Volunteers Needed to Build Hope Park - http://buildhopepark.org/Home_Page.html
Art League member Lee Ann Harrison requests volunteer help on March 12th, 13th and 14th, 2010. A group of artists are volunteering time to help with artwork (painting) and possibly a mosaic installation for Hope Park at the Lowe's YMCA in Mooresville. We will have plenty of painting and artwork opportunities and Hope Park and the Art & Design Committee would love your help!
Background:
Already approved art elements with final details upcoming upon approval: 1) A music playhouse with a fun, whimsical music motif on the exterior and possibly a small design inside, 2) A "sweets shop" playhouse with an interior mural and a few outdoor embellishments, 3) A few race cars, plus some other miscellaneous, creative art projects. We'll be painting music notes, flowers, candy, race cars, color ribbons merging into racetracks, directional signs, fun, colorful trims and more! Possibly included a mosaic mural wall.
REQUEST FOR YOUR ART SKILLS AND HELP:
Basically we are requesting your help in painting / staining and following the design and motif with your artistic skills and with your talented, painterly ways! Hope Park is an amazing large-scale project. FYI: Most of the artwork will be started and completed during the last 2 days of the installation (some on Fri, mostly on Sat & Sun). Our goal is to paint, paint, and paint all of the beautiful designs and ideas (incorporating your style and technique, of course)!
HOPE PARK TAKES CARE OF YOU:
If you register online as a volunteer, http://buildhopepark.org/Volunteers.html, Hope Park will provide childcare and food for us throughout the day. By the way, you are welcome to sign up for smaller shifts...any and all help is appreciated! There will be an art tent, all supplies and tools provided (although if you have a favorite brush, you may want to bring it), and you may want a hat, etc. Unfortunately, it is not a compensating project, but the good news is that you will be a part of a commercial install for all to see right here in our Lake Norman community. The BEST benefit is the really good feeling you'll get from helping with a park - generously designed and donated for our Lake Norman children!
Please let Lee Ann Harrison know if you could help Hope Park with this project. Just email her once you have signed up online, or call (704) 650-8568 or (704) 654-2523 for more information. Another contact: (c) 704 881-1479.
Thank you for your kind consideration! Lake Norman LOVES our artists and Hope Park needs us all! We sincerely appreciate your contributions! We truly want our artists represented in this community park.
Art Beyond Borders - Call for Artists
Art Beyond Borders, Visual Arts Night, Cannon School, Concord, NC
Tuesday, March 30, 2010, 5:30 p.m. Ð 7:30 p.m.
This year the Visual Arts Department at Cannon School will be hosting an international exhibit from the United Nations Headquarters in partnership with Teacher's Discovery and The International Museum of Twenty-first Century Arts, TIMOTCA, which celebrates the universal language of art. This exhibit brings a collection of 24 reproductions from 24 different countries which honor culture and diversity, and above all, humanity's deep desire to create art.
Our goal is to create synergy between our school and the community of artists that are working in our local area. We want to bring artists to our campus to share their work and their story. We strongly encourage artists of color to participate in this special evening.
We are asking for your support by providing publicity of our event within your membership and by sharing this open invitation with local artists who have connections with your organization. We would like to be notified by participating artists by March 1, 2010.
Contact Belinda Armstrong at barmstrong@cannonschool.org for more information.
Art Exhibit - Call for Artists, Davidson College
Amanda Whitton (amwhitton@davidson.edu), a senior at Davidson College, is seeking local artists for an exhibit in coordination with the March 12-13, Second Annual Women's Leadership Conference at Davidson College. The theme of the conference is 'Empowerment: Empowering Within, Around, and Beyond.' This year the design team was hoping to set up an art exhibit around the entrance hall of the Conference. The art would be set up around the entrance hall of the Conference for Friday night and Saturday. This would not be a silent auction sort of situation, but if the artist wished to we would be glad to say that the piece was for sale and provide for someone interested the artist's contact information.
Specifically seeking female artists, but also artist's who produce female-inspired work or perhaps deal with the theme of Empowerment to see if they might be interested in the conference and/or displaying their work for the two days. Amanda would take the utmost care and precaution of anything that they wish to show, and there is no qualification for the medium or size of pieces, as long as they are able to be transported without any sort of professional or technical operations. Please contact Amanda if interested.
